About the Project

“Gaia” is my bachelor project. It contains the concept of a 2D adventure game with one playable scene.

My main focus was to create a rich atmospheric playing experience.

As inspiration, I borrowed from Greek mythology for my story and character design.


The Story

Elaia is gathering mushrooms with her twin brother, when suddenly he is bitten by a snake. She is quick to cut of its head but the poison is already ravaging his body. Desperate to save him, Elaia enters the Underworld to ask the Queen of Death for help. She takes the snake head with her to identify the poison. Little does she realize, that the snake is not dead at all.

Rheos is in fact very much alive, very annoyed to find his lower body missing and actually does not want to meet Persephone again.

They have history, ok?

Still the two have to work together, Elaia needs Rheos neverending wisdom to find her way thought the twisting chambers of Hades and Rheos needs her legs.

Will they figure out how to work together?
